Our Story

At 15c, every bottle has a story—and so does the woman behind it.

Owner and sommelier Ali Rush founded 15c with a simple belief: wine should bring people together. It should spark conversation, inspire curiosity, and transform an ordinary evening into something memorable. What began as a passion has grown into one of San Luis Obispo's most beloved destinations for thoughtfully curated wines, seasonal cuisine, and genuine hospitality.

The name 15c comes from 15°C, the ideal temperature for storing fine wine—a subtle reminder that exceptional experiences are built on thoughtful details.

Ali's journey into wine began in Paso Robles while working in the tasting room at Castoro Cellars. After earning her Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from Cal Poly, she immersed herself in every corner of the industry—from winery marketing and direct sales to vineyard management and wine education. Wanting to deepen her understanding of viticulture and winemaking, she returned to Cal Poly to earn her Master's degree in Agriculture, where her graduate research with the Paso Robles Wine Alliance opened doors throughout California's wine community.

Her career has included leadership roles at renowned wineries, including Eberle Winery, before spending six years as a Fine Wine Specialist with the Henry Wine Group. Along the way, she also returned to Cal Poly as an instructor and guest lecturer, sharing her passion for wine with the next generation of industry professionals.

Today, Ali holds both the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and the prestigious Certified Sommelier certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers. Her love of learning continues to shape every bottle that finds its way onto the shelves at 15c.

The wine list is a reflection of Ali's philosophy—curated rather than crowded. Each selection is chosen with intention, celebrating both world-renowned producers and small family-owned wineries, with a particular affection for the wines of France and Spain. Through annual wine journeys abroad, she continues to build relationships with growers, discover remarkable producers, and bring those stories back home to San Luis Obispo.

Paired with a seasonally inspired menu and a welcoming atmosphere, 15c is designed to feel equal parts neighborhood gathering place and destination for discovery. Whether you're joining us for a glass after work, a wine class, live music on the patio, or an evening shared with friends, you'll find a space where everyone—from curious beginners to seasoned collectors—can feel at home.
